Developmental process of CD8+ T cell lineages. High T-bet expression, which is induced by high levels of inflammatory cytokines (i.e., IL-12), induces CD127lo SLEC, while low T-bet expression promotes the induction of CD127hi MPEC, which are capable of generating long-lived memory CD8+ T cells. KLRG1+ T cells receiving intermediate amounts of inflammatory signals downregulates KLRG1 in a Bach2-dependent manner and differentiated into all memory T cell linages.
